WORCESTER – Last week, a Worcester County Grand Jury handed up a murder indictment against 36-year-old Michael Wilcox, Jr., of Worcester, for the shooting death of his brother, Shaun Tatum, 46, of Worcester, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.
Mr. Wilcox was also indicted on one count of assault and battery, one count of possession of a firearm not at home/work, possession of a loaded firearm not at home/work, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
On June 18, 2025, Worcester Police responding to the area of Beacon Street quickly located Mr. Tatum lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately began to render medical aid. Mr. Tatum was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased the following day.
Mr. Wilcox was initially arraigned in Worcester District Court on June 20, 2025, on 6 counts: murder, armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. He has been in custody since the arraignment.
The indictment moves the case to Worcester County Superior Court, where Mr. Wilcox is expected to be arraigned on October 3, 2025.
