WORCESTER – Last week, a Worcester County Grand Jury handed up an indictment for murder against 35-year-old Steven Stuart, of Auburn, for the death of 7-year-old Jayden Carlson, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.
In September of 2015, Mr. Stuart was convicted of assault and battery on a child causing serious bodily injury, stemming from an incident involving Jayden Carlson, that occurred in August of 2012. As a result of that case, Mr. Stuart was sentenced to 6 to 8 years in state prison.
Jayden Carlson, who was 2-years-old at the time of the assault, sustained severe, life-altering injuries and subsequently experienced ongoing medical complications. Five years later, in December of 2017, he passed away as a result of those injuries.
Mr. Stuart was arraigned on June 18, 2026, in Worcester County Superior Court on one count of murder and held without bail. The next court date is scheduled for July 20, 2026.
