Brockton Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Stabbing in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG – A Brockton man was arrested today in connection with a fatal stabbing in Fitchburg, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.

On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at approximately 5:27 a.m., Fitchburg Police responded to Chester Street for a report of a disturbance involving a knife. When officers arrived, they quickly located a single male victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Ednerson Charles, 27, has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed assault with intent to murder.

Charles was arrested in Brockton without incident by members of the Fitchburg Police Department, Brockton Police Department, Mass. State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, Mass. State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Mass. State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS). He is expected to be arraigned in Fitchburg District Court tomorrow.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending family notifications. The matter remains under investigation by the Fitchburg Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
