EAST BROOKFIELD — A 24-year-old Paxton man, previously charged in an assault on family members in their home, was arraigned today for the murder of his 23-year-old brother, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Alexander Asia, 24, of 19 Monticello Drive, Paxton was scheduled for a dangerousness hearing today on two counts of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury. Instead he was charged with murder and arraigned on that charge.
Judge Timothy M. Bibaud ordered Mr. Asia held without bail on the murder charge and set bail of $1,000 on the assault charges. Mr. Asia is now scheduled for a pre-trial conference on all the charges on Jan. 30.
Innocent Asia was found dead in the family home after Paxton Police responded to a 911 call late on the night of Dec. 2. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner of death was homicide.
The mother of the two men, Leticia Asia, 53, suffered injuries in the incident and was treated at a local hospital. Paxton Police responded at 10:39 p.m. Dec. 2 after Mrs. Asia showed up injured at a neighbor’s home. The case is being investigated by State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Paxton Police.
