WORCESTER – Jose Lora, found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of David Luyando, was sentenced today to life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.
Judge Paul D. Wilson imposed the mandatory sentence today in Worcester Superior Court after hearing impact statements from three relatives of Mr. Luyando, who was 22 at the time of his death. He was killed on the afternoon of June 25, 2015 in Hope Cemetery.
The trial, which lasted nearly four days, included testimony from Mr. Lora, 24. The jury deliberated for about three hours.
