WORCESTER – A Superior Court jury found Jose Lora guilty of first-degree murder today in the shooting death of David Luyando, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.

Lora, 24, of Worcester, was charged with shooting 22-year-old Luyando in Hope Cemetery on the afternoon of June 25, 2015. The trial began on Monday and jury began deliberations early Thursday afternoon.

Sentencing for Lora is scheduled for Friday, May 11. By statute, Lora will be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

“This was a great collaboration between the District Attorney’s office and the Worcester Police Department working many long hours to bring justice in this case,” Mr. Early said.
