LUNENBURG – A dangerousness hearing will be sought for a 47-year-old woman who was arrested after attacking her boyfriend with an ax, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Robert J. Volpe, 53, was in stable but critical condition today at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. He was taken to the hospital shortly after 1 a.m. after police were called to his home at 140 South Row Road.
Rhonda Ravanis, 47, of the same address was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, vandalizing property and resisting arrest. She damaged a door and broke a window in a neighbor’s house.
The defendant was scheduled for arraignment this morning in Fitchburg District Court, but she was uncooperative. Judge Andrew L Mandell ordered held without bail until she agrees to be arraigned.
The District Attorney’s Office plans to file a motion for a dangerousness hearing at her arraignment.
The case remains under investigation by the State Police Detectives assigned to District Attorney’s Office and the Lunenburg Police.
