WORCESTER – An 83-year-old Westborough man was arraigned at the hospital today on charges related to the death of his wife, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.
On Saturday, March 6, police responded to the Park Village Apartments, 135 East Main St. and found 76-year-old Saharbanoo Rindani deceased. Her husband, Abdal Rindani, was also found in the apartment and transported to UMass Medical Center – University Campus.
Rindani was charged with attempted murder and strangulation. His arraignment was done in his hospital room at UMass Medical Center.
Westborough District Court Judge Timothy Bibaud ordered Rindani held on $50,000 cash bail after the Commonwealth requested a bail of $100,000. Conditions of release include house arrest with GPS monitoring and surrender of passports.
Rindani has also been ordered to undergo a competency evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital. The case is due back in court on April 20.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy, but has not yet determined a cause and manner of death. A murder investigation by State Police Detectives and Westborough Police remains active.
