WORCESTER – Two men, arrested yesterday as a result of a coordinated drug investigation, face charges in Worcester and Uxbridge district courts, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Juan Frias, 31, of 142 Richards St., Cranston, R.I., and Jose Rodriguez, 32, of 43 Esther St., Apt. 3, Worcester were arraigned today in Worcester Central District Court. Both were charged with distribution of a Class A drug; possession of a Class A drug with intent to distribute; and conspiracy to violate the drug law.
Judge Robert G. Harbour set bail at $25,000 for Frias and $15,000 for Rodriquez. Their cases were continued to Sept. 21 for a pre-trial conference.
As part of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at an apartment at 1 Depot St., Sutton. The search uncovered a handgun, ammunition, a magazine for the gun and 45 grams of a brown powder believed to be heroin. Frias and Rodriquez were charged with possession of ammunition without an FID card. Pending the testing of the brown powder at the State Police Laboratory, further charges may be sought.
The defendants will be arraigned at a later date in Uxbridge District Court on the charges stemming from the Sutton search.
The arrests came after an investigation by the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, Worcester Police Vice Unit, Sutton Police and the State Police K-9 Unit.
