WORCESTER – A Worcester County Grand Jury handed up indictments on Thursday against three men on charges in connection with the October 2022 killing of a Worcester man inside his Burncoat Street home, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.

Two men, Kelvin Verde, 23, and Berny Calderon, 25, have been indicted on charges of murder, home invasion, and armed robbery. Both have been held in custody since their arraignment in Worcester District Court, Verde’s in February and Calderon’s in January.

A third man, 30-year-old Luis Cotto, has been indicted on the charge of accessory after the fact to murder. His bail was set at $50,000 during his Worcester District Court arraignment on Nov. 16, 2022.

On Oct. 24, 2022, Worcester police responded around 8:40 a.m. to a gunshot call at 480 Burncoat St. Officers located 28-year-old Andrew Barley suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Worcester Police Detectives, prosecutors from the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, and investigators from the Boston Police Department and Nashua, N.H. Police Department gathered evidence that connected all three men to the killing and led to their arrests.

The indictments move the cases to Worcester Superior Court where arraignments will be held on a later date.
