Three Arrested in Southbridge Drug Operation

DUDLEY — Three people were arraigned in Dudley District Court today on drug charges after a month-long investigation by the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Southbridge Police, according to District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Edwin Estrada, 24, of 2 Cross St., Apt. 2-1, Southbridge pleaded not guilty to charges of distribution of a class A substance (heroin), possession of a class B substance (cocaine), and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Crisleonel Cuzado-Plaza, 20, of the same address, pleaded not guilty to charges of possession with intent to distribute a class B substance (cocaine), possession with intent to distribute a class A substance (heroin), and conspiracy to violate the drug laws.

Janet Colon Cintron, 44, of the same address, pleaded not guilty to charges of possession with intent to distribute a class A substance (heroin), and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Judge Timothy M. Bibaud set bail at $1,000 for Mr. Estrada, $470 for Mr. Cusado-Plaza and $250 for Ms. Cintron and continued all three cases to April 18. Assistant District Attorney Cailin Bullett requested $5,000 bail for each defendant.

The joint investigation culminated yesterday with the arrest of Mr. Estrada after an alleged sale of heroin on the street. His co-defendants were arrested at 2 Cross St. after a search warrant was executed at that address. About 10 grams of a white rock substance consistent with crack cocaine, and 15 wax baggie bundles of a tan powder consistent with heroin were seized along with cash, a digital scale, packaging material and rubber bands.

A search warrant executed on a vehicle belonging to Mr. Cuzado-Plaza also produced 16 knotted baggies containing a white rock substance consistent with crack cocaine and 10 wax bags containing a substance consistent with heroin.

The Narcotics Division of the State Police Detective Unite assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, State Police K-9 Unit, Southbridge Police Detective Unit, Southbridge K-9 and Charlton Police all participated in the investigation.
