WORCESTER – A Worcester Superior Court jury found Keith Rosiello guilty of first-degree murder today in the 2010 beating death of his wife in their Shrewsbury home, according to District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
The verdict, which came after three hours of deliberation, carries a mandatory sentence of life without parole. Judge Janet Kenton-Walker scheduled sentencing for Tuesday.
The jury of seven men and five women voted unanimously that the murder was carried out with extreme atrocity and cruelty, one of two theories of first-degree murder presented by prosecutors.
Maureen Rosiello, 44, died between Feb. 3-4, 2010 in the home she shared with her husband and two young children at 32 Deerfield Road.
An autopsy revealed that she died of blunt-force trauma. She suffered multiple injuries, including broken ribs and a fractured skull.
Mrs. Rosiello’s children, Michael, 10, and Kayla, 16, were both home during their mother’s fatal beating and testified about what they saw.
“This case is sad on so many levels,” Mr. Early said. “Rarely do we see children have to testify to such horror, but they did, andthey did so with great courage. I’m so proud of the effort of our prosecution team and the strength Mrs. (Margaret) Lynch (the victim’s mother) and her family showed in helping us with this prosecution.”
Assistant District Attorneys Terry J. McLaughlin and Cheryl R. Riddle prosecuted the case.
Mr. Early also praised the work of Shrewsbury Police and the State Police Detectives Assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
Mr. Rosiello’s sister, Lisa Ricardo is also charged with the murder of Mrs. Rosiello. Her trial date has not been set yet.
