Remove Stigma

One of the key goals of our Prevention and Support Network is to remove the stigma around Substance Use Disorder. Substance Use Disorder is a treatable disease, not a moral failure or a character flaw. Eliminating the stigma will help open the doors to treatment and reduce the number of lives lost to overdose.

We encourage those in recovery to share their story on our Wall of Hope to help eliminate the stigma and raise awareness about what it looks like to be in successful recovery.

We also encourage those who have lost a loved one to share their story on our Memorial Wall. These stories remind people that Substance Use Disorder can happen to anyone and it helps others experiencing grief realize they are not alone.

Support After a Death by Overdose

Ver página en español SADOD provides resources, information, and assistance to people throughout Massachusetts who have been affected by the death of someone they care about from a substance-use-related cause. Our focus is on increasing the capacity and effectiveness of peer grief support for bereaved people, frontline care providers, and people in recovery or struggling with drug use.

The Sun Will Rise Foundation

The primary focus of The Sun Will Rise Foundation is to provide free peer grief support for those who have experienced the death of someone they care about due to substance use related causes. Not only from overdose, but also from suicide, homicide, accident, and medical complications due to drug/alcohol use.

Team Sharing, Inc. is working to reduce stigma by creating an “Overdose Awareness” license plate in Massachusetts. They are close to reaching their goal for approval by the state. You can get more information and apply for a license plate online at Team Sharing, Inc.’s website here.
