OAKHAM – The Oakham Police Department and Massachusetts State Police were able to quickly locate a missing 5-year-old boy on Monday morning, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.
The boy, Owen Goderre, was reported missing around 10:45 a.m. to the Oakham Police Department after he was believed to have left his house on foot with his dog, a pit bull/heeler mix.
Oakham Police began searching for the boy and called in the Massachusetts State Police. The State Police Special Emergency Response Team (SERT), State Police Air Wing, State Police K-9, CEMLEC K-9, the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Central Mass. Search and Rescue joined the search.
At around 12:45 p.m., SERT Team Troopers located Owen and his dog along the power lines near Coldbrook Road in Oakham. Both the boy and the dog were evaluated by the Oakham Fire Department and determined to have no injuries.
“We appreciate the work of Oakham Police and Fire Departments and all of the Massachusetts State Police assets to bring Owen home safely,” Mr. Early said. “Their coordinated efforts helped quickly locate Owen and his dog and reunite him with his family.”
