CHARLTON — State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Charlton Police are investigating a shooting last night in a Southbridge Road apartment that left two people dead, according to District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Charlton Police and EMS responded to a 911 call at about 7:15 p.m. from 28 Southbridge Road.
It was reported to police that an argument between a couple was occurring in a bedroom of the home. First responders located an adult male deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The adult female victim was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. Medical assistance was rendered; however, she later died from her injuries.
Besides the State Police Detective Unit and Charlton Police and EMS, State Police Crime Scene Services, the MSP Firearms Identification Section and forensic scientists assigned to the State Police Crime Lab all responded to the scene.
The names of the deceased are being withheld until all family members are notified.
The investigation is continuing.
State Police and Charlton Police have determined there is no threat to the public.
