WORCESTER – Members of the community, law enforcement and multi-disciplinary team partners joined Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. and his staff on Wednesday at an open house to celebrate the first year of national accreditation for the Child Advocacy Center of Worcester County.
The CAC, which is located in the District Attorney’s Office, helps the most vulnerable victims and witnesses of crime to talk about their horrific experience in a comfortable and friendly environment, according to Mr. Early.
When a child experiences abuse, it is important for them to have a place that is safe, culturally sensitive, and child focused, so that their experience with the investigation process does not add to their trauma.
In 2015 the CAC delivered services to more than 500 children, and provided a secure, child-friendly space for more than 350 children to be forensically interviewed.
