WORCESTER — A Worcester Superior Court jury today found Erika Mullen guilty of voluntary manslaughter in the 2015 stabbing death of Carlos Estrada in Worcester’s University Park, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Mr. Estrada, 33, of 12 Tirrell St., died on Oct. 4, 2015 after being stabbed five times late on Oct. 3 during an altercation in the park off Main Street, which is sometimes called Crystal Park.
Judge Douglas H. Wilkins scheduled sentencing for 2 p.m., Oct. 30.
A second suspect, Anthony Chambers of 26 Mendon St., is awaiting trial. He was the boyfriend of Ms. Mullen, 33, of 26 Sever St.
“I’d like to thank the jury for their deliberations,” Mr. Early said. “We appreciate their diligence over the last three days in reaching this verdict. I would also like to thank Chief Steve Sargent and the Worcester Police Department for their hard work on this very difficult case.”
Mr. Early also praised the prosecution team of Assistant District Attorneys David P. Feraco, Terry J. McLaughlin and Susan M. Oftring.
