Milford Police Officer Shoots, Kills Man After Disturbance

MILFORD — A Milford Police officer shot and killed a suspect Sunday evening after responding to a disturbance in the neighborhood of Glines Avenue, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.

Milford Police responded around 8:30 p.m. to the report of a disturbance caused by Philip Castonguay, III, 39 of 32 Glines Ave. Castonguay was wielding a metal pipe and charged at the arriving officer. The responding officer shot Castonguay.

Castonguay was transported to the Milford Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead.

The officer, whose name is not being released at this time, was also transported to the hospital following the incident according to department policy, but was not injured. The officer was placed on administrative leave according to department policy.

This incident remains under investigation by the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, State Police Crime Scene Services, the State Police Firearms Identification Section, and the Milford Police Department.
