A 44-year-old man wanted in connection with Sunday’s death at 42 North Bow St., Milford, was arrested yesterday by New Jersey State Police, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Jusselo D. Dos Reis was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant after members of the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit arrived at 22 Vincent St. in Newark. He was taken into custody without incident and will appear in a New Jersey court tomorrow where prosecutors will seek to bring him back to Massachusetts.
A warrant was issued Monday out of Milford District Court charging Mr. Dos Reis with aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in relation to the Milford incident.
“I want to thank the New Jersey State Police, particularly the NJSP Fugitive Unit, for capturing the suspect,” Mr. Early said. “This arrest is a textbook example of cooperation in law enforcement that reaches across state lines.”
Massachusetts State Police alerted their counterparts in New Jersey that Mr. Dos Reis might be in their state.
The Department of Homeland Security has informed law enforcement that Mr. Dos Reis is believed to have illegally entered the United States “without inspection.” Brazil is believed to be his country of origin and there was concern he might return their before being captured.
The death of a man early Sunday morning at the North Bow Street address is being investigated by the State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Milford Police.
