Man Indicted for Murder in Fitchburg Stabbing Death

WORCESTER – A Leominster man was indicted on a murder charge in the stabbing death of man in Fitchburg last summer, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Jeremy A. Cruz, 37, was indicted on a single count of murder by a Worcester County Grand Jury last week. Cruz is accused of stabbing 45-year-old Jesus Maisonet Davila, of Fitchburg, shortly before 2 p.m. on July 1 in the area of 199 Main St.

Davila was initially hospitalized after the incident, only to succumb to his injuries on Aug. 6, 2023.

Cruz has been held since he was first arraigned on July 3 in Fitchburg District Court on charges of armed assault to murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury. He was found dangerous at a July 10 hearing and held without bail.

On Aug. 15, Cruz was charged with murder in Fitchburg District Court following Davila’s death.

The indictment moves the case to Worcester Superior Court. Cruz is expected to be arraigned on May 1.
