WORCESTER – A 32-year-old man was indicted on a murder charge in the 2021 killing of a woman who was found dead inside a Worcester apartment, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.

Kyle Curley was indicted on charges of murder, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and intimidation of a witness by a Worcester County Grand Jury on Friday. He will be arraigned in Worcester Superior Court at a later date.

Curley was arraigned in Worcester District Court on Dec. 9, 2022 after he was charged in connection with the death of 29-year-old Erica Lara. He was ordered held without bail at that time and remains in custody.

On June 29, 2021, Worcester police officers responded to a Kelley Square apartment for a report of a death. The body of Ms. Lara was discovered.

Worcester Police detectives and prosecutors from the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office determined Curley lived with Ms. Lara. He is accused of assaulting Ms. Lara and leaving her with injuries that caused her death.

Worcester Police detectives, prosecutors from the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, investigators from the San Diego Police Department and officials from the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner gathered evidence and worked collaboratively in the investigation that led to Curley facing charges.
