WORCESTER – On September 23, 2025, a Worcester County Grand Jury returned a murder indictment against one man in the 2009 disappearance of 36-year-old Patricia Santos, of Worcester, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.
Albert Carabba, 64, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, was indicted on one count of murder in the disappearance and murder of his ex-girlfriend, Ms. Santos, who was reported missing from 45 Fruit Street, Worcester, on May 20, 2009, and never seen or heard from again.
Following the indictment, Mr. Carabba was taken into custody without incident in Ocean Springs by detectives from the Ocean Springs Police Department, with assistance from detectives from the Worcester Police Department. Mr. Carabba is expected to be brought back to Massachusetts and arraigned in Worcester Superior Court at a later date.
“For the last 16 years, the Worcester Police Department has not forgotten Patricia Santos. This arrest highlights the steadfast, patient determination with which WPD officers and detectives worked to take the next steps towards justice for her and her family. As this unresolved homicide finally moves forward, we are confident that the facts provided will resolve any questions surrounding Patricia’s disappearance and deliver much deserved closure to her family. I also want to acknowledge Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.’s office for their vital role and support in this process,” Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier stated.
This case was investigated by the Worcester Police Department, and the charges resulted from the Worcester Police Department and Worcester County District Attorney’s Office’s efforts to review and close all open homicide cases.
