WORCESTER — A city man was indicted Tuesday for involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a 21-year-old woman in December, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
A Worcester County Grand Jury handed up to Superior Court the single indictment against Djarflo Irving, 37, of 102 Rodney St., Apt. 2.
Police found Suheil Ortiz, 21, with a single gunshot wound to the chest in an apartment at 15 Oread St. at about 1:15 a.m., Dec. 10. The victim was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. It is alleged that Mr. Irving and the victim were part of a small group of friends drinking and socializing.
Mr. Irving was arrested the same day of the shooting. He was arraigned on a manslaughter charge in Worcester Central District Court and held without bail. The indictment moves the case to Superior Court. He will be arraigned anew in Superior Court at a date to be determined.
