WORCESTER – A 27-year-old Worcester man has been charged with the murder of a woman whose body was found partially under a parked vehicle in the Auburn Mall parking garage, according to Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Vu Van Ngo of 201 Dana Ave. was ordered held without bail after being arraigned today in Central District Court on charges of murder and misleading a police investigation. His case was continued to March 19.
Mr. Early tentatively identified the victim as Nhung Nguyen, 46, of 29 Freeland St., Worcester. She was found unconscious about 4 p.m. Tuesday and was transported to the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester by Auburn Fire Dept. paramedics. She was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the hospital.
What is believed to be blood was found in Mr. Ngo’s vehicle and a .22-caliber semiautomatic pistol was recovered from his home, Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey T. Travers said during the arraignment.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause and manner of death, but it appears Ms. Nguyen was shot, Mr. Early said.
Mr. Ngo and Ms. Nguyen were both employees of Worcester Envelope, which is located a short distance from the mall. Mr. Ngo often gave Ms. Nguyen rides to and from work.
The slaying is being investigated by State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Auburn Police.
