WORCESTER – A 35-year-old homeless man was indicted today for the murder of Diane Lamarche-Leader whose body was discovered on Dec. 6 as fire fighters responded to a blaze at her Rutland home, according to District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Amador Roman had been indicted in February on charges related to the slaying, larceny of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property valued at more than $250 and misleading police. He had been found with an SUV belonging to Ms. Lamarche-Leader.
A Worcester County Grand Jury also indicted Angel E. Santiago, 21, of 7A Clarkson St. on a charge of accessory to murder after the fact. He was indicted last month on charges of misleading police and receiving stolen property.
Both defendants will be arraigned on the new charges in Worcester Superior Court at a future date.
The cause of death is pending autopsy results, according to Mr. Early.
The cause and origin of the fire at 2 Joanna Drive, Rutland, remain under investigation by State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, Rutland Police and Rutland Fire.
