RUTLAND — A Holden man was arrested today and charged with the murder of his brother in Rutland earlier this month, according Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Michael S. Dowjat, 65, of 119 Lovell Road, Holden was arrested at his home shortly before 4 p.m. He will be arraigned tomorrow in Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield.
David J. Alan, 59, of 124 East County Road, Rutland was found dead in a 1960s-style bomb shelter beneath his home. He was discovered after Rutland Police were called to the home for a wellness check.
An autopsy, performed by the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, determined that Mr. Alan died of multiple stab wounds.
State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, the Rutland Police and Holden Police continue to investigate.
