WORCESTER — A 29-year-old Worcester man was ordered held without bail today after being arraigned in Worcester District Court for murder in the beating death of David Carlson last summer, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Mr. Carlson, 53, was found dead on July 25 in his burned out home at 12 Halmstead St. He had significant head and facial injuries and the lower part of his body was burned.
Brayan Flores of 197 Vernon St., Apt. 1, was arrested on charges of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and was being held on $50,000 bail. He was charged with murder yesterday after the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that Mr. Carlson died of blunt force trauma to the head and neck.
Judge Richard Eustis dismissed the assault and battery charge at the request of Assistant District Attorney Timothy A. Westerman and continued the case to March 8.
The death is being investigated by Worcester Police.
