Fitchburg Murder Victim ID’d; Another Shooting under Investigation

FITCHBURG – The 23-year-old man who was shot and killed Thursday night has been positively identified while detectives investigate another shooting this morning on lower Blossom Street, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Leon Wilson Jr. of 49 Spruce St., Fitchburg, was identified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. He was murdered shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday near 30 Blossom St.

Today, a 22-year-old man walked into the Fitchburg Police Headquarters at about 2:15 a.m. and told police he had been shot on lower Blossom Street, near where Mr. Wilson was killed. The victim of today’s shooting was transported to an area hospital where he is being treated.

State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Fitchburg Police are investigating both shootings, including a potential connection between them.
