Fisherman Found Dead in Pond

NORTHBRIDGE — The body of a Worcester man was found this morning in Meadow Pond by some kayakers,Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. announced today.

Jerzy Szydlik, 58, 92 Perry Ave., Apt. 1, Worcester was pronounced dead at the pond. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has accepted the case and will determine the cause and manner of death. There were no signs of foul play.

Mr. Szydlik had told family members yesterday that he was going fishing. When he did not return last night the family reported him missing to the Worcester Police Department.

Mr. Szydlik’s canoe was recovered from the pond and his car was found near the pond on Carr Street.

State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Northbridge Police are continuing to investigate.
