DUDLEY — A 52-year-old Dudley man was arrested on a warrant in Connecticut and returned to Massachusetts today to face charges he sexually assaulted a teenager several years ago, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Jose A. Herrera of 13 Mill Road, Dudley, was arraigned today by teleconference from the Dudley Police Department. He is charged with four counts of rape of a child aggravated by more than 10 years age difference; two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person 14 years old or older; and one count of witness intimidation.

District Court Judge Robert J. Pellegrini set $10,000 bail. If he makes bail, Mr. Herrera was ordered to wear a GPS monitor at home with permission to attend medical and legal appointments only. Judge Pellegrini also ordered the defendant to stay away and have no contact with the alleged victim, the victim’s child, and witnesses, and to have no unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18. The case was continued to May 5 for a probable cause hearing. Assistant District Attorney Lisa J. Wells had requested $100,000 bail and the same conditions that were imposed.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred four years ago in Dudley.

The case was investigated by the Dudley Police Department and the Child Abuse/Sexual Assault Unit of the District Attorney’s Office.
