LEOMINSTER — State and local police detectives are looking for the driver of a dark-colored Jeep Commander that sped away from the shore of Lake Whalom after striking and killing a man earlier today, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
David M. Szafarowicz, 33, of 2 Oxford Street, Auburn was pronounced dead in the street in front of the Captain’s Lounge, 1536 Main St. He was struck at about 1 a.m. by the SUV after a fight involving several patrons inside the bar. The driver was in the fight. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has accepted the case.
Investigators are looking for the driver of the dark-colored Jeep Commander or similar vehicle. Anyone with information about that vehicle or the driver are asked to contact the State Police Detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office at 508-832-9124.
