WORCESTER — Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. joined other officials at the YWCA of Central Massachusetts today to kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
It was a Purple Out Day. Nearly everyone in attendance was wearing purple. Others wore purple ribbons to show their support for ending domestic violence. Purple is the color of domestic violence awareness. Purple Out Days are used to focus public attention on the issue.
The ceremony, at the Salem Square Y, included a proclamation as well as the raising of the purple Domestic Violence Awareness Flag. Mr. Early’s office also set up a table at the vendor fair to provide some resources to the community.
