Death of Man in Gardner Ruled a Homicide

GARDNER — The death of a man in Gardner, who was found dead Saturday, has been ruled a homicide following an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Randy S. Vaillancourt, 56, was found in his apartment at 50 Nichols St., Apartment 1D, on Saturday afternoon as Gardner police were conducting a well-being check. The medical examiner determined the cause of death to be blunt-force trauma.

The death of Mr. Vaillancourt is being investigated by Gardner Police, the State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, State Police Crime Scene Services and forensic scientists assigned to the State Police Crime Lab.
