WORCESTER – Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. was honored this week for hiring and supporting veterans of the armed services.

Richard Bedell, ombudsman director of the Massachusetts Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, presented Mr. Early with the Patriotic Employer Award in the Worcester County Courthouse. Assistant District Attorney John Sares, a supervisor of prosecutors in the District Attorney’s office, nominated Mr. Early for the honor. Mr. Sares is a member of the Army Reserve and served in Afghanistan before being hired by the DA. He was just 24 days removed from the battlefield when he was hired, and is one of several combat veterans working in the District Attorney’s office.
