WORCESTER – Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. attended the Annual Daybreak Breakfast today at the College of the Holy Cross.

Chris Nelson, a licensed mental health counselor at Pernet Family Health Service, and Boa Newgate, a youth program coordinator at the Southeast Asian Coalition, were the winners of the 2015 Great Guy Awards. They were honored for their work in raising awareness to end domestic violence.

Mr. Early, who was honored with the Great Guy Award in 2008, attended the event with First Assistant District Attorney Ed Karcasinas, the head of the DA’s domestic violence unit.

Dr. Michael Hirsh, surgeon-in-chief at UMass Memorial Children’s Center, gave an inspiring keynote address that had a particular focus on the use of guns in domestic violence cases.

Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito, State Sens. Chandler and Michael Moore, State Rep. James O’ Day and Mayor Joseph Petty were among those in the huge crowd at the Hogan Center.

Linda Cavaioli of the YWCA and Co-chairs Bob Rentsch and Carolyn Erskine of Daybreak are to be congratulated for putting on an outstanding event.
