WESTBOROUGH – The budget officer for the Northborough-Southborough School District was arraigned today in Westborough District Court on charges related to the theft of more than $200,000 from the district’s accounts, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Christopher P. Hoey, 34, of 15 Great Rd., Stow was arraigned on charges of larceny over $250 by common scheme, embezzlement by a public official and uttering. Judge Vito A. Virzi ordered Mr. Hoey held on $100,000 bail and continued the case to April 1.
State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office were contacted by Northborough-Southborough School Superintendent Christine Johnson to report what appeared to be a theft of school funds. The school district assisted investigators and a complete forensic audit is underway.
The State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and the Northborough and Southborough Police departments are continuing to investigate.
