WORCESTER – An Ayer man was indicted by a Worcester County Grand Jury yesterday in the September hit-and-run deaths of two siblings, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Daniel Depew, 29, will be arraigned tomorrow in Worcester Superior Court on two counts of manslaughter by motor vehicle; two counts of motor vehicle homicide; two counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing death; two counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident; operating under the influence of alcohol (third offense); operating to endanger; and possessing an open container of alcohol.

Depew is accused of hitting Gina and George Burdick with his vehicle as they unloaded groceries from their car near 126 Lincoln St in the early evening of Sept. 26. Gina Burdick died soon after being hit. George Burdick was hospitalized and died several days later. Depew was apprehended at about 7:30 p.m. that day in a Worcester Polytechnic Institute parking lot not far from the crash scene.

Depew has been held without bail at the Worcester County House of Correction after being found to be dangerous on Sept. 29 by a District Court judge.
