Autopsy Cannot Determine How Auburn Toddler Died

WORCESTER – The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has completed its autopsy report on a 2 year-old who died after being found unresponsive in an Auburn home last August, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

The autopsy report on Avalena M. Conway-Coxon listed the both the cause and manner of death as undetermined.

The 2-year-old and a second toddler, then 22-months-old, were found unresponsive on Aug. 15 at the home of their foster mother, Kimberly L. Malpass. The toddlers were taken to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. The 2-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital and the 22-month-old was admitted. The second child is alive and remains in the custody of Department of Children and Families.

The investigation of this case is continuing, Mr. Early said.
