FITCHBURG – A 28-year-old Leominster man was arrested tonight on a charge of murder in the shooting death of Roy Rivera, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Andrew Mathieu, whose last known address was17 ½ Laurel St., Leominster, is charged with murder and carrying an unlicensed firearm. He will be arraigned tomorrow morning in Fitchburg District Court.
Mr. Rivera, 24, was shot and killed in the early evening of May 12 on Milk Street near the intersection with Allston Place.
An investigation by State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and the Fitchburg Police led to the suspect. A warrant was issued and Mr. Mathieu was apprehended without incident at 113 Spruce St., Leominster. He was brought to the Fitchburg Police Department where he was booked.
The investigation is continuing.
