DOUGLAS – An 18-year-old Sutton man died last night after being rescued from Lake Manchaug, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Timothy J. Ellsessar, 18, of 30 Dudley Lane, Sutton, was pronounced dead at 8:35 p.m. at Harrington Hospital in Webster. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has accepted the case and will determine the cause and manner of death.
The death does not appear to be suspicious.
Mr. Ellsessar was swimming off a boat with friends shortly after 8 p.m. They were swimming to the bottom of the lake, about 20 feet deep at that point, and returning to the boat. After coming up from the bottom, Mr. Ellsessar told his friends he was feeling dizzy. Then he started to sink. He was retrieved from the water and CPR was begun as the boat returned to shore at Lake Manchaug Camping, 76 Oak Street, Douglas.
Police and fire arrived a short time later and CPR was continued by Douglas Fire Department while transporting him to the hospital.
State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Douglas Police are continuing to investigate.
