WORCESTER – Michael Dowjat was sentenced to life in prison today after a Superior Court jury found him guilty last month of second-degree murder in the 2014 slaying his brother, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.

Judge Daniel M. Wrenn imposed the statutory life sentence. Mr. Dowjat, 69. will be eligible for parole after 15 years.

The dismembered body of David J. Alan, 59, was found at his home on East County Road in Rutland on June 14, 2014. Mr. Dowjat was charged with murder and later indicted by a Worcester County Grand Jury.

Assistant District Attorneys Terry McLaughlin and Lina Pashou prosecuted the case.
