WORCESTER – The body found Sunday morning in the northbound travel lane of Route 190 has been identified as Lorie Perreault, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Ms. Perreault, 35, who lived in Worcester, was pronounced dead at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Hospital a short time after being transported there by ambulance.
State Police at the Holden Barracks received several calls at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday reporting that there was a body in the road near Exit 1 on I-190.
Troopers, at the scene, followed a trail of automotive fluid to a home on Whitmarsh Avenue, not far from the highway. A car and driver were located. The car was examined by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the driver was interviewed by troopers.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was lying in the road and obscured to the driver when she was hit by the vehicle.
No charges have been filed. The driver’s name will not be released unless he is charged.
State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office is continuing to investigate with assistance from State Police Troop C, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
